Our goal as a dental team is to focus on preventive dentistry with an emphasis on children. We go back each year to a village called Santa Catarina Mita, Guatemala , population around 35,000 people served by only one dentist; therefore, many go without dental care due to lack of funds or the ability of the one dentist to meet all of their needs. One way our team is working to make progress is through education, fluoride treatments, sealant, tooth restorations such as amalgams and composites which can restore teeth early to prevent tooth loss later. Education is key in helping the children understand the effects of drinking sweetened beverages and chewing sugar cane that is a great source of tooth decay. The need unfortunately is still for extractions due to abscesses and dental infections; and, we provide those services as well.
The Los Romeritos Dental Team is a Volunteer in Mission Program of the Methodist Church. Our team is a 501C3 (#93-048-0272) status under the Oregon City United Methodist Church.
ALL THE DONATIONS AND MONEY FROM THE GARAGE SALE WILL GO TO PAY FOR THE DENTAL SUPPLIES NEEDED TO PROVIDE FOR THE CHILDREN WHO ARE IN NEED.
